Negros students downed by omelet – INQ7.net:

Last updated 12:13pm (Mla time) 09/12/2006(UPDATE) TWENTY-two students in Silay City, Negros Occidental province, were rushed to a hospital on Tuesday after eating “okoy” or shrimp omelet, a popular street snack, Senior Superintendent Charles Calima, provincial police director, said.
Holy Shrimp Fritters! Haven’t we learned our lessons yet? I remember an incident not too long ago when scores of students were also poisoned eating street foods peddled in the vicinity of their school. Whatever happened to this? I know that the seller was also poisoned when she “taste tested” her product but what concrete steps were undertaken to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
With months before the election, I’m sure a lot of politicos will be more than willing to give out soundbites regarding this but after the elections, will we wait for another round of poisioning?
